Project overview
Modular Body Action is the project I created during my master year at LUCA School of Arts in Gent. By using scans of my body as an alphabet, I created a graphic language which you can read and interpret in your own unique way. The scans were put together which formed new figures based on movements out of my own choreographies. By combining graphic design and dance, I wanted the participant to experience what I feel when I'm dancing.

Through a simple game of cards, you can make new combinations over and over again. And so, you can create endless new interpretations and movements. I presented the cards to different types of people. Friends, children, classmates, dancers, non-dancers. They all created their own version of what they saw in the images. What fascinates me the most, is that just a selection of six figures can result in such different outcomes. The dancers interpreted there own choreographie based on the given figures. Although the figures were shown in the same order, each dancer used their own rythm and experience to perform a personal choreo.
